Seven Card Stud Hi is a popular variation of the classic, much loved and hugely popular poker game of Seven Card Stud. Let’s look at the basic format of the game to give you an overview of how it’s played. Seven Card Stud Hi is a game played with both concealed and open cards dealt to each player and there are no community cards as in games like Hold’em or Omaha. All players begin by paying an ante, which buys them into the game and stimulates the action. The game is played with each player being dealt two hole cards face down and one card face up. The player with the lowest showing card posts a small bring in bet then each player makes their betting decision from calling, raising or folding. This is followed by each player being dealt a further up card and another round of betting ensues. More cards are dealt, all showing each followed by betting until every player has four up cards alongside their two hole cards. During the game, some players will fold their cards and be out of the game. A final face down card is dealt to the remaining players followed by the final round of betting. The players then show their hands at the showdown and the winner is the player with the best five card hand made from their seven cards. In this game, unless there is a draw with two players holding identical hands, the winner takes all! |
