While Texas Hold’em is by far the most popular of all forms of poker, there are some slight variations of the game itself to be contended with. On of these is known as Limit Texas Hold’em and is played in a similar manner to other forms of the same game. The major difference with Limit Hold’em is the presence of an upper limit being placed on the number of bets a player can make during any round of betting, which is four. It includes a bet, a raise, a re-raise and a cap. The rest of the game is identical to other forms of Texas Hold’em which means that the same skill set and knowledge of the game’s peculiarities are essential in any player who wishes to be successful at this variation of poker. Limit Texas Hold’em will appeal to newcomers and those with limited experience of poker as it is quite easy to learn while effectively limiting the amount you can potentially lose if you do happen to make mistakes. This can prove to be a valuable lesson as players use this variation as a springboard to higher stakes games, because when you make a mistake and it costs you some money, you are unlikely to make the same mistake twice. It’s therefore better to make your mistakes in Limit Texas Hold’em in the early stages of your poker career before you move up to bigger and more competitive games. |
