Texas Hold’em is a variation of poker that has become the number one most popular of all the different types. Within this category are several slightly different variations on the main theme, one of these being No Limit Texas Hold’em. One of the main differences between No Limit Hold’em and the other variations of the game is that all table and pot limits that exist in other types of this game have been removed. This makes for a game with the potential to carry some dizzyingly high stakes and pots. It’s certainly not for the feint hearted player. The minimum amount you can raise in this game is at least equal to the previous bet, raise or re-raise made in that same round. To give an example of how this works, when the player to your right bets $10, then you must raise the bet by a minimum of $10, which makes your total bet $20. The scary part of No Limit Texas Hold’em is that the maximum raise eligible is literally the size of your own stack of chips on the table. Unless you know what you are doing, are skilful at the game and have plenty of experience, this can spell success or disaster. In fact, this game could be thought of as either the best game you can play to quickly make a huge stack of money or the worst game you can play to quickly lose everything you have! |
